Many of the cellulite cream ingredients on the market today contain fat burners and skin firming agents that are actually derived from plants and foods we already eat.  In addition, many of the high-tech and expensive cellulite therapies focus on stimulating lymphatic drainage and blood circulation which results in deflated tissue size - hence the reduced appearance of cellulite and fat!  Again, many natural foods in our diet can promote improved circulation and lymphatic drainage.

Another focus of many cellulite treatments is to strengthen the connective tissue.  Again, many of the foods, vitamins and minerals we consume can help improve our connective body tissues at the cellular level.

Foods to Strengthen Connective tissue
The following is a list of vitamins and minerals and lifestyle changes which have been shown to help rebuild connective tissue strength over time.  In each of the recommendations the goal is to strengthen and rehydrate the tissue.
  • Increase quantities of antioxidants in the diet.
  • Add a supplement of glucosamine (the precursor to hyaluronic acid which helps to attract and hold water in the connective tissue of the body).
  • Introduce a daily dose of essential fatty acids to the diet.
  • Replace several red meat based meals with fish and white chicken meat based meals each week.
  • Add simple vegetable and legume based protein sources to the diet each day such as beans, whole grains, soy, nuts, and seeds.  This step will help in providing the necessary essential amino acids required by the connective tissue.
  • Increase the amount of fresh fruits and vegetables eaten on a daily basis.
  • Choose a multi-vitamin that contains 100% of all 8 B vitamins – this will give the body the necessary tools to use the glucosamine, amino acids and other building materials to strengthen and repair the connective tissue.
  • Add more lecithin containing foods such as egg yolks, soy, peanuts and peanut butter and selected fruits and vegetables.
  • Stop smoking, limit alcohol consumption, get enough rest each night and decrease stress levels – all of which contribute to the levels of free radicals in the body.

Carviovascular excercise and stretching
One of the biggest things you can do to reduce cellulite, fat, and improve blood circulation and lymphatic drainage is cardiovascular exercise.   Exercising burns fat and makes you smaller - its as simple as that!  In addition, stretching activities like Pilates can actually reshape the fascia that covers your muscles and stretch the cellulite connectivity tethers that are attached to it, resulting in a less dimpled appearance.
